DELTA's rating has been upgraded to BBB+

Improved financial position
This upgrade can be seen as confirmation by S&P of a trend that the management of DELTA have already set in motion: strengthening the financial position by means of an improved liquidity position and debt reduction in 2010. In addition, there is a stable cash flow from the regulated operational activities. There are also important, favourable developments that have contributed to the BBB+ rating, such as the divestment of the solar energy business, stable results in the energy, water and waste processing sectors, the fact that DELTA is going to increase its share in EPZ and the fact that the grid company is remaining part of DELTA. It is still important that the courts do not enforce a demerger of the grid company; the High Court will be making a ruling on this at the end of October, and DELTA is confident of the outcome.

Justifiable pride
"Over the last two years, we have operated a conservative financial policy as a result of the recession - which we saw coming early - and the developments in the market," said Frank Verhagen, Chief Financial Officer at DELTA. "We are pleased that people have seen how much was involved in the hard work and the interventions, and we can certainly be proud of that, given the current climate. We will be continuing our current policy."
